Overhead Crane Operator & Steel Material Handler

Location: Cocoa Beach, FL Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Shifts: 1st and 2nd Shift Starting Pay: $22.00/hour, with higher pay depending on experience 2nd Shift Differential: Additional $3.00/hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable Material Handler to support steel fabrication and yard operations. This hands-on role involves moving heavy materials, operating lifting equipment, preparing steel for production and shipment, and keeping work areas organized and safe.

Key Responsibilities

Transport structural steel and other materials throughout the shop and outdoor yard.

Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and Pettibone/telehandler equipment.

Load, unload, stage, and secure materials for fabrication, storage, or shipment.

Jockey trailers and maintain an organized, accessible yard.

Skid, position, and prepare steel and other materials for shipping.

Operate additional shop or production equipment as needed.

Clean steel components and materials before fabrication or shipment.

Assist with inventory tracking, supply monitoring, and material movement.

Coordinate with production crews and other teams to ensure materials are available when needed.

Follow equipment operating procedures and safe material-handling practices.

Maintain reliable attendance and contribute to an efficient team.

Qualifications

-

Hands-on experience operating overhead cranes.

-

Experience using Pettibone or telehandler equipment.

-

Ability to safely operate forklifts and other industrial equipment.

Previous material handling or warehouse experience preferred.

-

Structural steel or manufacturing experience is a plus.

-

Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions.

Ability to safely lift, move, and position heavy materials.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently or with a team.

Willingness to learn and operate additional equipment as needed.
