About the role

Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human

Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence.

This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk.

Senior Manager, Solutions Engineering – Strategic (Auth0)

The Auth0 Solutions Engineering Team

Identity is the front door to digital customer experience and the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Auth0 by Okta secures consumer and B2B SaaS experiences by providing the trusted, developer-centric, and neutral identity layer that modern digital enterprises depend on. Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) sits at the critical intersection of security, developer velocity, and consumer friction. Delivering frictionless user onboarding, robust authentication, and enterprise-grade security at massive scale requires relentless problem-solvers. We are looking for builders and leaders who operate with speed and urgency and execute with technical excellence.

This is an opportunity to lead the technical presales strategy for our most transformative enterprise accounts.

The Okta Strategic Accounts Solutions Engineering Team

The Okta Solutions Engineering team unites deep technical architecture with commercial insight. We advise Okta’s largest, most strategic enterprises on architecting modern CIAM strategies that deliver seamless, secure digital journeys to millions of end users. As a leadership team, we partner with customers to evaluate complex customer-facing digital ecosystems, assess scale and privacy requirements, and deploy CIAM solutions that drive measurable business outcomes—from increasing user conversion rates to preventing account takeovers.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Director, AMER Presales Strategic Accounts, this role leads the Auth0 Solutions Engineering team focused on Okta’s highest-value and highest-potential enterprise customers. Our SE leaders are domain experts in Auth0 who can see ahead to emerging digital trends and translate them into actionable, multi-year technical roadmaps. You will be a vital growth engine, partnering closely with Strategic Sales leadership to co-author and execute the technical strategy across complex Auth0 transformations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and Scale a High-Performing Team: Lead and mentor a team of ~10 Senior and Principal Solutions Engineers specializing in Auth0. Drive end-to-end talent acquisition, onboarding, and hands-on professional development, equipping your team to master both developer-led evaluations and C-suite architectural discussions.
  • Drive Strategic Engagements: Standardize and execute technical sales playbooks designed for complex Auth0 scenarios—including legacy user database migrations, omnichannel authentication, social and passwordless login, bot and fraud mitigation, and high-throughput peak events.
  • Champion Architectural Rigor: Oversee technical validations, proofs of concept (POCs), and architectural reviews for high-concurrency, mission-critical consumer and business applications. Establish metrics and KPIs to measure evaluation efficiency, technical win rates, and customer time-to-value.
  • Serve as an Executive Technical Sponsor: Act as an active executive sponsor on Tier-1 opportunities. Build high-trust advisory relationships with customer executives across both technical and digital product organizations (CPOs, CDOs, CMOs, CIOs, and CISOs), balancing developer experience, consumer friction, and rigorous security posture.
  • Influence the Auth0 Roadmap: Serve as a crucial strategic feedback channel between our largest enterprise clients and Auth0 Product and Engineering teams, translating field requirements into platform innovations.
  • Operationalize Cross-Functional Alliances: Partner closely with Strategic Sales leadership to operationalize enterprise sales methodologies (Command of the Message, MEDDPICC). Collaborate with Operations, Enablement, HR, and Finance to drive strategic workforce planning, technical skills development, and headcount/budget allocation, ensuring the SE organization is resourced for sustainable scale and high performance.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Proven CIAM Domain Expertise: Substantial presales or architectural background specifically within Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM), developer platforms, or consumer-facing digital identity ecosystems.
  • Presales Leadership Experience: 4+ years of directly managing and scaling a high-performing technical presales or solutions engineering team within enterprise SaaS.
  • Deep Identity Protocol Knowledge: Strong working comprehension of modern identity protocols and architectures, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, Passkeys/WebAuthn, JWT, API security, and token management, along with exposure to mobile and web SDK integrations.
  • High-Scale Application Architecture Fluency: Proven ability to navigate large-scale architectural challenges, such as multi-region identity routing, tenant isolation, session management, and compliance standards (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA).
  • Enterprise Sales Acumen: Demonstrated success applying value-based selling methodologies (e.g., MEDDPICC, Command of the Message) to close complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise deals.
  • Executive Presence: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a track record of influencing cross-functional executive teams spanning Security, Product, Engineering, and Marketing.

Extra Credit

  • 12+ years of total technical presales, solutions architecture, or professional services experience in enterprise security or software development.
  • Hands-on background in full-stack web/mobile application development, API design, or modern cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Direct experience competing in or analyzing the broader Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Customer Identity (CIAM) competitive landscape.
  • Familiarity with adjacent technologies: Web Application Firewalls (WAF), bot management/fraud detection, Customer Data Platforms (CDP), and CRM ecosystems.
