Medical Coding Support Specialist

The Medical Coding Support Specialist provides medical coding, documentation, and administrative support to clinical teams to facilitate accurate patient records and effective coordination of care. Responsibilities include reviewing and assigning diagnostic codes for hospice admissions and readmissions, maintaining and updating patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR), verifying documentation for accuracy and completeness, and preparing clinical reports and patient information as requested. This role also supports interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings, clinical committees, and performance improvement initiatives through meeting documentation, report preparation, and communication with attending physicians. Additional duties include coordinating correspondence with external providers and organizations, responding to patient-related calls, assisting clinical staff with information needs, and providing front desk coverage as needed. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, organizational skills, confidentiality, customer service, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical staff and other departments.
