Financial Accountant

The Financial Accountant supports FourPoint Energy’s accounting and financial reporting functions by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, assisting with monthly and quarterly close activities, contributing to financial statement preparation and analysis, maintaining accurate accounting records, and supporting audits, internal controls, and process improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Prepare and post journal entries and supporting schedules for monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.

- Reconcile assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts, research variances, and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.

- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, and related financial analyses.

- Review financial results for accuracy and completeness and investigate significant or unusual fluctuations.

- Maintain accurate accounting records for FourPoint Energy and its managed entities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

- Support oil and gas accounting activities, including coordination with Revenue, Accounts Payable, Joint Interest Billing, and other accounting functions.

- Assist with cash management, account activity monitoring, and related reconciliations, as assigned.

- Support the annual external audit and other financial reviews by preparing schedules, gathering documentation, and responding to information requests.

- Apply established accounting policies and assist with technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting guidance, as needed.

- Maintain accounting and finance documentation in accordance with company recordkeeping requirements.

- Document accounting processes and support internal controls and process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.

- Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports and analyses for accounting and business stakeholders.

- Collaborate with colleagues across the organization and assist with other accounting responsibilities as requested.
