About the role
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer with strong expertise in industrial valve automation, actuator selection, control-system integration, and project execution. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience engineering automation packages for ball, plug, butterfly, gate, globe, check, and severe-service valves.
This role requires technical proficiency in pneumatic, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, and electric actuation systems, along with the ability to manage projects from customer specification review through engineering, assembly, testing, inspection, dispatch, and site commissioning support
Key Responsibilities:
Valve Automation Engineering
- Engineer and execute valve automation systems based on schematic drawings and customer requirements. - Develop automation solutions for:
- Ball valves - Plug valves - Butterfly valves - Gate, globe, and check valves - Severe-service valves - Select, size, and integrate:
- Pneumatic actuators - Hydraulic actuators - Electro-hydraulic systems - Electric actuators - Manual gear operators - Ensure appropriate actuator sizing, torque selection, fail-safe configuration, and operational suitability.
Automation Package Development
- Design and develop complete valve automation packages incorporating:
- Solenoid valves - Limit switches - Position transmitters - Positioners - Air filter regulators - Tubing layouts - Control panels - Review customer specifications, datasheets, P&IDs, and project requirements. - Ensure package compliance with hazardous-area classifications, SIL requirements, and applicable customer standards. - Prepare and review automation documentation, including GA drawings, hook-up drawings, pneumatic/hydraulic schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, test procedures, and technical submittals.
Project Execution & Coordination
- Coordinate end-to-end automation project execution from engineering through dispatch. - Work closely with Design, Production, QA/QC, Procurement, Assembly, and Testing teams. - Monitor engineering schedules, technical compliance, material availability, and customer deliverables. - Support Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, customer inspections, and pre-dispatch activities. - Provide technical clarifications to customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Testing & Troubleshooting
- Supervise actuator assembly, calibration, functional testing, and final inspection. - Troubleshoot issues related to:
- Actuator performance - Air leakage - Positioning accuracy - Torque mismatch - Control-signal integration - ESD and fail-safe operation - Ensure automation packages meet functional, safety, and performance requirements before dispatch. - Support installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer sites when required.
Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain standardization for automation packages, component selection, and engineering practices. - Identify opportunities to improve package reliability, cost, quality, and delivery timelines. - Support valve automation upgrades, digitalization initiatives, and advanced control-system solutions.
Required Qualifications
