CNC Programmer — Hunt Valve Salem, Ohio | First Shift | Defense and Mission-Critical Manufacturing Put your machining expertise behind work that matters You know what it takes to turn a complex print into a precision part. At Hunt Valve, you’ll use that knowledge to program components supporting defense, U.S. Government, and industrial applications—work where accuracy, reliability, and manufacturing expertise matter. We’re looking for an experienced CNC Programmer who understands machining from the shop floor up. You’ll develop programs, solve manufacturing challenges, improve tooling and work holding, and work directly with skilled machinists to produce high-quality, mission-critical components. This opportunity is for an experienced Gibbs CAM programmer with 5-axis milling and turning experience. These qualifications are mandatory. Required to Be Considered Candidates must meet every requirement below. No exceptions or substitutions will be accepted. • At least 5 years of experience programming with Gibbs CAM. Experience with Mastercam or another CAM platform does not replace this requirement. • 5-axis milling experience. This is a requirement, not a preferred qualification. • CNC turning experience. Candidates must have both milling and turning experience. • At least 5 years of experience running and editing mill-turns, lathes, machining centers, or comparable CNC equipment. • A high school diploma or equivalent. What You’ll Do • Create and optimize CNC programs for mill-turns, lathes, machining centers, and other equipment. • Translate engineering blueprints into accurate geometry, effective toolpaths, and reliable manufacturing processes. • Collaborate with machinists during setup, prove-out, and troubleshooting to ensure finished parts meet drawing specifications. • Design and improve work holding fixtures, including soft jaws and other machining supports. • Recommend tooling that improves quality, cycle time, and manufacturing consistency. • Program for a variety of materials, including stainless steels, alloy steels, castings, and forgings. • Perform machining observation studies and identify opportunities to reduce scrap, rework, and cycle times. • Support manufacturing process improvements and the company’s make-or-buy decisions. This role combines focused programming work with regular shop-floor collaboration. In this union manufacturing environment, programmers support production through programming, setup guidance, and troubleshooting; machinists operate the equipment. What You’ll Bring • Strong Gibbs CAM programming skills and practical knowledge of machining processes. • Experience programming CNC milling and turning equipment, such as Okuma, Mazak, Fanuc-controlled, and/or Haas machines. • Experience designing work holding fixtures and selecting appropriate tooling. • The ability to read engineering blueprints and interpret geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). • Knowledge of inspection and measuring devices. • The ability to explain programming decisions and troubleshoot manufacturing problems. • A collaborative approach, clear communication, and ownership of your work. A CNC programming certificate, associate degree, or related apprenticeship is preferred. SolidWorks, ERP systems, and manufacturing process improvement experience are also valuable. Schedule and Work Environment • First shift: 7:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. • Primarily onsite at Hunt Valve in Salem, Ohio. • Occasional work-from-home flexibility may be available after training is complete and productivity is demonstrated. Build Your Career at Hunt Valve Join a collaborative manufacturing team where you can take pride in the parts you help produce and continue developing your technical expertise. Benefits include: • Health, dental, and vision coverage. • A 401(k)-retirement plan with company match. • 100% tuition reimbursement. • Opportunities for continued technical development and long-term career growth. • Company gatherings, including occasional picnics and employee events. Employment and Contract Requirements Candidates must pass a hair follicle drug test and background check. This position involves work subject to U.S. Government contract security and export-control requirements. Candidates must meet the eligibility and access requirements applicable to the work, as verified by Hunt Valve. Ready to Bring Your Expertise to Mission-Critical Manufacturing? If you have at least 5 years of Gibbs CAM experience, 5-axis milling experience, and CNC turning experience, we want to hear from you. Hunt Valve is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
