About the role
General Definition: Oversee and manage all landscaping team members, while performing daily tasks in and around the Building Maintenance department. Essential Job Functions: Overseeing day-to-day site operations and delegating work to crew members Maintaining a schedule, and ensuring expectations are met Recognizing issues on client sites and alerting Chief Engineer. Providing the Chief Engineer with feedback on crew members Developing and training of crew members Ensuring all crew members perform their work safely and in accordance with company policies Ensuring equipment is in good working order and receives appropriate preventative maintenance Operate vehicles and powered equipment associated with landscape maintenance such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, sod cutters, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, blowers and hand tools Perform basic landscape duties associated with commercial landscaping on large client properties including but not limited to: mowing, edging, trimming, aerating, top dressing, laying down sod and mulch, planting flowers, cleaning up debris, digging, blowing leaves, pulling weeds, watering plans etc. Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning equipment, hedge or brush trimmers Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks driveways, parking lots, planters, burial sites, or other grounds features which includes gathering and removing litter Take care of all equipment, materials and uniforms assigned to you: neat and clean appearance as well as adherence to company dress policy required Perform loading and unloading of power equipment, tools, materials and debris each day to/from vehicles Perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment used Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems Act as role model, led by personal example, encourage team work and cooperation, remain calm, cool and collected under any circumstance, handle conflict and resolve issues with tact and diplomacy, use caution and discretion when faced with crisis situation, avoid physical confrontation at all times, seek assistance from management, use your best judgment and ensure the staff is trained, re-trained and follows post orders and SOP’s at all times. Manages the work of subordinate supervisors Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
