Sales Associate - Garden Center

Job Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Retail Garden Center Sales Associate to join our team. As a Sales Associate, you will assist customers in selecting plants, gardening tools, and supplies, offering expert advice, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. During the Christmas season, you will work in the lighting department, helping customers make their selections for holiday decorating and decor needs. Your responsibilities will include maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, providing product recommendations, and supporting seasonal sales initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Customer Service:

- Greet customers as they enter the store and offer assistance with product selection. - Provide expert advice and recommendations on gardening, plants, soil, fertilizers, and tools. Christmas season- this department supports lighting and outdoor decor and project needs. - Help customers with product questions and ensure they understand proper care and maintenance. - Sales Support:

- Assist customers in finding products, upsell related items, and inform them about sales or promotions. - Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using POS systems. - Maintain knowledge of current inventory and inform customers about availability and stock levels. - Product Knowledge:

- Stay updated on seasonal plant varieties, trends in gardening products, and best practices in plant care. - Learn and communicate the benefits of eco-friendly products, gardening solutions, and sustainable practices. - Understand the differences in holiday lighting options and help customers, including contractors, make their selections. - Merchandising & Stocking:

- Ensure that shelves, displays, and gardening areas are stocked, neat, and visually appealing. - Assist in unloading shipments and stocking new inventory as it arrives. - Regularly inspect plants and products for quality and ensure they are properly cared for. - Store Maintenance:

- Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the store, including the exterior and gardening areas. - Follow all safety guidelines for handling plants, tools, and chemicals. - Teamwork & Collaboration:

- Work closely with team members to meet store goals and objectives. - Assist in setting up seasonal displays and promotions. - Participate in team meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications:

- Education & Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). - Previous experience in retail, gardening, or horticulture is a plus, but not required. - Strong interest or passion for plants, gardening, or landscaping is preferred. - Skills:

- Excellent customer service and communication skills. - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks. - Ability to lift and move products, including plants and gardening tools (up to 50 lbs.). - Other Requirements:

- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings. - Knowledge of gardening, plants, and outdoor products is a plus.

Work Environment:

- Retail environment, both indoor and outdoor (garden areas). - Physical work required, including standing for extended periods, lifting, and bending.
