About the role

First 5 Alameda County is seeking a motivated and equity-driven Graduate Analyst Intern to support a countywide initiative focused on understanding and strengthening mobile services available to children, families, and priority populations across Alameda County. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-impact systems-building project that will inform strategic planning, policy development, and cross-sector collaboration. Working alongside First 5 Alameda County's leadership and community partners, you will help identify opportunities to improve service coordination, equitable access, and long-term sustainability of mobile service delivery models. What You’ll Do In this role, you will support research, analysis, and strategic planning activities, including: Landscape Research & Analysis Conduct a comprehensive landscape analysis of mobile services across Alameda County Define and classify mobile service models across key sectors Identify service providers, delivery models, and service offerings Analyze geographic coverage, target populations, and service accessibility Data Collection & Systems Mapping Develop and maintain a comprehensive mobile services inventory database Document provider information, eligibility requirements, referral processes, and service areas Conduct geographic mapping to visualize service distribution and identify underserved communities Examine alignment between available services and community needs Funding & Sustainability Research Conduct a high-level scan of funding and sustainability models Research reimbursement opportunities, partnership models, and fiscal leveraging strategies Identify common funding approaches that support long-term sustainability of mobile services Systems Coordination & Strategic Recommendations Assess partnerships, referral pathways, and coordination across systems of care Identify service gaps, duplication, and opportunities for greater collaboration Research promising and innovative mobile service models Develop recommendations to strengthen equitable service delivery across Alameda County Reporting & Presentation Prepare reports, presentations, and visual materials to communicate findings Present recommendations to internal leadership and external stakeholders Develop tools and resources that support future planning and decision-making Key Projects & Deliverables Develop a comprehensive Mobile Services Landscape Analysis Report Create and maintain a countywide Mobile Services Inventory Database Produce geographic maps illustrating service availability and underserved communities Conduct a funding and sustainability scan of mobile service models Identify promising practices and innovative models that may be adapted for Alameda County Develop recommendations to improve service coordination, referral pathways, and equitable access Prepare a final presentation summarizing findings and strategic recommendations for executive leadership and community partners What You'll Gain This internship offers hands-on experience in: Public sector research and systems analysis Geographic mapping and service gap analysis Cross-sector systems building and service coordination Strategic planning and policy development Equity-centered research and community engagement Data management, visualization, and reporting Presenting findings to executive leadership, governing bodies, and community stakeholders You'll leave with practical experience conducting large-scale landscape analyses, translating research into strategic recommendations, and supporting systems change initiatives that improve outcomes for children and families.
