About the role
Summary: Under the direction of the Head Tennis Professional, the Tennis Teaching Professional is responsible for teaching tennis lessons and performing assigned administrative duties in a positive manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Teaching Lessons Teach private and group lessons as assigned in accordance with Park District policies. Effectively communicate and demonstrate proper techniques, such as grip, stroke production, serve, footwork and rules. Conduct instruction in accordance with the Clubs standardized methods and strategies. Perform necessary administrative tasks, such as attendance taking, returning messages, and general correspondence with patrons and co-workers. Discretely work through differences with fellow teaching professionals so as not to create distractions on the court or in front of clientele. Arrive in time to start lessons punctually and allow enough time to fully complete lesson and cleanup as scheduled. Administration and Budget Complete timesheet daily by accurately inputting privates/groups/drop-in and administrative hours. Secure substitute teaching professionals when unable to fulfill commitments. Keep accurate attendance records and update master list at Front Desk. Ensure transfers are approved by Head Tennis Pro and Facility Supervisor II. Maintain a neat and clean facility, including ball pickup and proper equipment storage after every shift. Maintain list of client names for private lessons. Participate in periodic staff meetings and professional development trainings. Communication Keep administrative staff apprised of any key issues, class assignment changes, and other significant developments in a timely fashion. Solicit feedback and actively listen to others. Participate in quarterly Parent-Pro Conferences. Make recommendations for improvements and efficiencies. Service Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. Safety Conduct all work in a safe manner, including using personal protective equipment and safety devices as required. Identify and report any safety hazards. Attend all Park District required training (Bloodborne Pathogens, Back Safety, Fire & Emergency, etc.). Perform other Park District Duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
