The Opportunity McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for a Utility Designer to join our growing Utility Infrastructure Division in the Vancouver region. This role is ideal for an Engineering Technician, Engineer-in-Training (EIT), or early-career Professional Engineer who is passionate about municipal infrastructure design and project delivery. Working closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to the design and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects throughout the Vancouver region and across Western Canada, with exposure to water and wastewater systems, pump stations, PRV stations, linear utilities, dikes, stormwater outfalls, and trenchless technologies. What You’ll Do • Prepare engineering designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports for utility infrastructure projects. • Support the design and delivery of water distribution, sanitary sewer, stormwater, and transportation infrastructure systems. • Perform engineering analyses, calculations, and design reviews. • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies. • Support contract administration, construction services, field reviews, and site inspections. • Assist with proposal preparation and other business development activities. What You’ll Bring • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution. • 2-5 years of experience in utility design and project delivery. • Registration as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) / Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia, or eligibility to obtain registration. • Experience with utility design, including water, sanitary, stormwater, and facility-type projects. • Familiarity with municipal standards, MMCD specifications, and construction practices. • Experience with Civil 3D, Revit, and other municipal design software is considered an asset. • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills. • Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle for occasional site visits and field reviews. What Can We Offer You? The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $100,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting.
