About the role
Wheat Ridge was founded during the 1859 Gold Rush as a rest stop for miners and later named for its golden wheat fields. As unsuccessful miners turned to farming, the area thrived with orchards, vegetable fields, and later, greenhouses, earning the title “Carnation City.” Incorporated in 1969, Wheat Ridge now offers a central location with easy access to Denver and the Rocky Mountains. It operates as a home-rule city with a council-manager government, where the elected council sets policy, and the manager oversees daily operations and budgeting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive: Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy, exercise science, physical conditioning principles and methods, fitness assessments, variety of resistance training programming and injury prevention; demonstrate competency in exercise individual and class design and implementation for group programs. Responsible for preparation for program activities; prepare lesson plans, organize relative equipment; set-up and break-down materials used for instruction. Monitor participants and their ability to participate; monitor attire to properly perform, i.e., shoes, etc., if applicable; provide a safe environment for all participants; enforces all general building policies if applicable; complete any necessary reports and forms, i.e., Accident Reports, Health Forms, Attendance Records, Supply Requests, etc. Attend meetings as required; responsible for finding a dependable, appropriate substitute if absence is necessary. Perform body fat analysis and computer fitness assessments for customers. May be required to organize and assist the clerical support functions to include, filing, inputting data, completing reports, etc. Perform related work as required and assigned. Work is performed in accordance with standard practice and methods requiring initiative to complete recurring assignments independently and judgment to determine which of many methods are applicable in any given situation. Finished work is reviewed for accuracy, quality and completeness. Unfamiliar situations are referred to the supervisor.
