About the role

Job Responsibilities: • Provides front-line care and coordination of complex, critically ill patients in the PICU including assessment, diagnosis, pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, bedside procedures, and family-centered care of patients and their families. • Consults and collaborates with acute care providers and interdisciplinary team members on all assigned inpatients during daily rounds. • Conducts patient assessments, medical histories, physical exams, and diagnosing health and developmental problems. • Manages therapeutic regimens for patients with both acute and chronic diseases according to approved guidelines. • Manages medical emergencies. • Triages patient transport calls and provides consultation. • Performs clinical procedures and demonstrates competence in clinical skills. • Performs invasive procedures, including ABG, arterial line, central venous catheter/PICC line placement and intubation assistance. • Makes independent clinical decisions when required. • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and works collaboratively with medical and surgical colleagues, staff and trainees. • Participates in professional development activities and maintaining professional affiliations. • Teaches medical students and resident physicians. • In this role, NP will have the support of the Pediatric Intensive Care physician while caring for patients in the PICU. • Performs other duties as described by the department chair. Education: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program. Experience: A minimum of one-year of critical care experience in medical/surgical nursing, prefer pediatric experience. License/Registration: Valid state license. Must have current certification and maintain certification from a national certifying body (ANCC, AANP, etc.). Must maintain PALS and ACLS certification. Practice Setting: Hospital (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) Patient Population: Neonatal and pediatric patients up to 21 years of age, including trauma, emergency room and surgical services Shift Details: Full-time position, 12-24 hours rotating shifts Internal applicants must call HR at ext. 11653 to determine eligibility before applying.
