About the Role The Valley Shore YMCA is seeking a friendly, reliable, and service-oriented Custodian Housekeeper to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the Valley Shore YMCA. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing facilities, setting up rooms, maintaining indoor and outdoor areas, supporting facility operations, and performing seasonal tasks such as groundskeeping and snow removal as needed . This position plays a key role in promoting a clean, safe, and welcoming environment where members of all fitness levels can thrive. What You’ll Do Maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment by completing assigned cleaning and maintenance tasks according to established schedules and standards throughout the facility and surrounding grounds. Ensures custodial and facility supplies are adequately stocked, including replenishing soap, paper towels, cleaning products, and other necessary materials. Safely operates and maintains assigned motorized and non-motorized custodial equipment in accordance with YMCA policies and manufacturer guidelines. Identifies, documents, and reports maintenance needs, safety concerns, and repair requests promptly, performing minor repairs when authorized. Helps ensure the security of the YMCA facility and property by conducting routine inspections and verifying that designated areas are properly secured during and at the conclusion of each shift. Follows all YMCA safety policies and procedures, remains alert to potential hazards, takes appropriate action to prevent accidents, and promptly reports incidents, unsafe conditions, and injuries to a supervisor. Assists with room setups, furniture arrangements, and facility preparations to support programs, meetings, and special events. Build positive, professional relationships with members, participants, volunteers, staff, and colleagues while representing the YMCA's mission and core values and maintains required certifications (if applicable) and attends all required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities. Perform other related duties and special projects assigned.
