The Director, Tax and Treasury leads all tax and treasury functions for company operating across 100+ locations. This role owns tax strategy, multi-state and multi-entity compliance, treasury operations, and cash management, and serves as a key finance partner on tax due diligence and integration as CBX continues to grow through acquisition. The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on leader with deep technical tax expertise, strong treasury management experience, and the ability to build and lead a growing function. Essential Functions • Lead and develop the tax and treasury function, including oversight of staff and outside advisory firms supporting preparation and filing of all tax returns (federal, state, and local income, sales and use, and other business taxes). • Own the company's tax strategy, developing and implementing planning initiatives to minimize tax liabilities and optimize tax benefits in partnership with outside advisors. • Direct completion of the annual income tax provision and ensure accurate, timely tax reporting for financial statement purposes. • Ensure compliance with multi-state tax laws and regulations, including nexus determination and apportionment analysis, across CBX's expanding footprint. • Serve as primary point of contact for tax audits and inquiries from taxing authorities, and provide support in tax litigation matters. • Lead tax due diligence and structuring for mergers, acquisitions, and integrations, partnering closely with Corporate Development, Finance, and Legal. • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax developments and advise senior leadership on the impact to the company's operations and financial position. • Oversee the accurate calculation, reporting, and remittance of sales and use taxes, privilege taxes, and business licenses across multiple jurisdictions. • Develop and implement processes and controls to ensure ongoing compliance with sales and use tax regulations. • Partner with cross-functional teams to address the sales and use tax implications of business transactions and initiatives. • Provide guidance and training to the finance team and other departments on sales and use tax and treasury matters. • Collaborate with Accounting, Legal, and Operations to ensure effective integration of tax and treasury considerations into business processes and decision-making. • Communicate complex tax and treasury matters clearly and effectively to senior management, the Board, and other stakeholders. • Own cash management and forecasting, ensuring optimal liquidity for the company's operations and growth initiatives. • Manage banking relationships and negotiate terms for banking services, credit facilities, and financing arrangements. • Develop and implement treasury policies and procedures to manage financial risk, including interest rate, credit, and liquidity risk. • Support capital structure and financing strategy decisions in partnership with the CFO and Corporate Controller. • Other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA required. Advanced degree (e.g., MST, MBA) preferred. • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in tax and treasury management, including prior experience leading a team. • Experience with multi-state and multi-entity tax compliance; experience in a private equity-backed or acquisition-intensive environment strongly preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws, as well as treasury management principles and practices. • Demonstrated experience leading tax due diligence and structuring for mergers and acquisitions. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate complex tax matters into clear business guidance. • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience building and developing a function. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including experience presenting to executive leadership and external stakeholders such as banks, auditors, and PE sponsors. • High degree of business acumen and the ability to operate as a strategic partner to Finance leadership.
