STATUS: Part-time, nonexempt

HIRING PAY RANGE: $15.00 per hour

The cook position offers the opportunity to utilize your culinary talents to enrich the lives of the women and children we serve. Working under the direction of our Nutrition Coordinator, cooks prepare and serve daily meals and snacks from scratch, cater special celebrations for our residents and staff and assist with many other interesting kitchen projects.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

- Prepare and serve food and beverages with a focus on quality taste and presentation, and in accordance with health and food safety regulations

- Cook a variety of foods from scratch using a grill, oven, steamer, and other commercial kitchen equipment

- Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients using proper knife skills.

- Ensure the kitchen is clean and organized, adhering to food safety regulations.

- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during meal periods.

- Restock areas on serving line and maintain clean, orderly stockroom and refrigerators/freezers

- Provide exceptional customer service to all clients, staff and guests

- Receive and stock truck deliveries

- Assist with catering on and off-site events

- Follow all kitchen procedures to ensure successful health inspections

- Develop positive rapport with clients
