Assistant Claims Clerk

General Definition: Responsible for helping the Claims Clerk on operations in regards to the claiming process. Essential Job Functions: Answers phones Takes entries in booth Registers foal papers & silks Inputs foal papers & silks in computer Assists with the draw Maintains & updates list of jockeys, jockey agents, phone number & weight for the condition book Cross checks race PP’s with Racing Form and Equibase for any inaccuracies Checks “workout rule” on every horse entered and notifies trainers of any problems. Informs Racing Secretary of horses who need workouts; maintains updated list. Assists the Claims Clerk during racing hours Other duties as assigned.
