About the role
Cato Networks is the converged network and security cloud for the AI era.
As AI reshapes cybersecurity, enterprises face a dual challenge: unlocking AI’s potential while defending against AI-driven attacks. Cato addresses both through a unified, cloud-native platform, providing the visibility and context to prioritize risks and stop threats in real time across users, applications, data, and AI agents.
Join us as we scale: take on ambitious technological challenges and shape the next generation of enterprise security at a company trusted by thousands of organizations worldwide.
We're looking for a bright and passionate Senior Software Engineer to join our Endpoint Data Protection team. In this critical role, you will design, develop and maintain core components of our endpoint clients running on Windows and Mac, used by hundreds of thousands of users worldwide, across households and enterprise environments. You will help take our clients to the next level — building new low-level capabilities at the heart of how people move, share and protect their files, devices and network traffic. The scope is broad and the room to grow is real: ownership and technical leadership scale with you.
Responsibilities:
- Developing core low-level components for our clients on Windows and Mac
- Researching new technologies, including ways to use AI to accelerate engineering and product capabilities
- Taking ownership on new features and leading collaborative efforts end to end
- Supporting the entire application lifecycle, including release management and supporting production
- Collaborating with quality assurance, technical support, product management and other engineering teams to deliver integrated features
Requirements:
- BSc. degree in Computer Science from a known university or equivalent experience
- Excellent understanding of software engineering principles and best practices
- 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
- Hands-on production experience with C, C++ or Rust
- Strong low-level systems experience on a desktop operating system — Windows, macOS or Linux
- Good understanding of multithreaded development, synchronization and data structures
- Experience with networking, network protocols and networking environments
- Experience building security software on the endpoint (EPP/EDR or similar) – Major advantage
- Experience with low-level OS work such as drivers, system extensions or kernel-adjacent code – Advantage
- Familiarity with additional languages used across our stack (C#, Swift, Python; occasionally Java/Go or backend services) – Advantage
- Curiosity, and ideally hands-on experience, applying AI to make engineering and products better – Advantage
- Big dreams paired with hands on the keyboard — you think ahead, but you ship
- Passionate about delivering a great user experience
- Motivated and independent, a fast learner who is great at problem-solving
- A team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills, who stays steady through pivots
