Art Therapist

Primary Purpose: To provide art therapy services onside, as well as offsite, in partnership with a non-profit community arts education organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and group art therapy services for clientele in community arts-based program including documentation and ongoing evaluation; Populations served include adults with special needs (physical and developmental disabilities; verbal and nonverbal); children and adults demonstrating a range of abilities on the autism spectrum; individuals with Down Syndrome, ADHD, developmental delay, seizure disorders, visual impairment, and genetic illnesses; and troubled and troubling children and adolescents. Experience with mental health population desired; Assess/evaluate potential client needs through assessment; Provide needed consultation with client families; Participate in twice yearly client events; Serve as advocate for organizations creative arts therapies program; Collaborate with Coordinator of Creative Arts Therapies and Director of Education to create art therapy programming for onsite and offsite clients Participate in team meetings as scheduled Lines of Communication: The Art Therapist reports to the Director of Creative Arts Therapies.
