SPIN Childcare & Education Center Early Childhood Teacher Assistant Apprentice Department: Early Childhood Education Reports To: Lead Teacher / Center Director Status: Apprenticeship Position Summary This position provides paid, hands-on learning in a licensed early childhood program while completing related college coursework toward an Early Childhood Education certificate or degree. The apprentice works under the supervision of qualified teachers to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children while progressing through apprenticeship competencies and academic requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist lead teachers with implementing daily classroom activities. Support children's cognitive, physical, social-emotional, and language development. Build positive relationships with children and families. Maintain a safe, healthy, and engaging classroom environment. Assist with classroom setup, organization, cleaning, and sanitation. Supervise children in classrooms, playgrounds, meal times, and transitions. Assist with meals, diapering, toileting, and hygiene according to licensing regulations. Observe and document children's development as directed. Participate in lesson preparation and classroom planning. Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, FERPA, and Colorado licensing requirements. Follow all Starpoint and SPIN policies and procedures. Requirements Minimum Qualifications Must be 18 years of age High school diploma or GED. Must be currently enrolled in approved Early Childhood Education certificate or degree program. Ability to obtain and maintain all Colorado Early Childhood licensing requirements. Ability to pass required criminal background checks. Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire. Ability to work effectively with children, families, and coworkers. Physical Requirements Frequently lift up to 40 pounds. Sit on the floor and interact with children. Bend, kneel, squat, and reach throughout the workday. Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team. Willingness to learn and accept coaching. Positive attitude and commitment to child development.
