About the role
As an Associate Commercial Lines Underwriter, you will review Commercial Lines routine risks for processing through renewal and endorsement underwriting and support the Commercial Lines underwriting staff with routine processes. This role follows a hybrid work model that includes three days in our Portsmouth, NH office and two days from home. What You’ll Do: · Obtains, reviews and processes documents such as Commercial Lines application forms, inspection reports, motor vehicle reports, insurance scores, insurance maps, claims' files, and medical reports to determine degree of risk from such factors as applicant financial standing, age, occupation, accident experience, and value and condition of property. Composes underwriting notes to Commercial Lines underwriters. · Communicates, as directed by Commercial Lines Underwriters (Intermediate/Lead/Senior), with marketing representatives, agency personnel, other insurance or inspection companies, or other entities, as necessary, to obtain more information to formulate criteria for quoting purposes. Processes quotes based on criteria provided by the Commercial Lines underwriters. · Performs follow-up on Commercial Lines underwriter requests for information to agents. · Applies average product knowledge including, but not limited to, Company Commercial Lines underwriting guidelines and policy forms, Insurance Services Office's manuals and forms as well as knowledge of and familiarity with rating processes for all Company Commercial Lines product offerings. · Develops and maintains positive Company/Agency relations. What You Bring: · Associate's degree, and 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills · Strong attention to detail · Ability to work independently and as part of a team · Travel as required by business needs (estimated 10%) Essential Functions: The essential functions of this position include reviewing and processing Commercial Lines documents, communicating with internal/external partners (including the underwriting team/agencies) and performing follow up request as needed with agents.
