About the role

LEAF Summer English Camp - Camp Coordinator (hlavný koordinátor letného kempu) Location: Penzión Lagáň, Radava, the Slovak Republic Dates of the camp: 3.8. – 23.8. 2015, dates of the assignment from asap until August 31,2015. Main challenge: LEAF Summer English Camp is looking for a practical, energetic and responsible Camp Coordinator, to lead the preparation and implementation of a three-week intensive educational experience for 50 international students. Responsibilities will include: recruiting candidates for teaching and counseling positions; managing operational and administrative functions to ensure an efficient preparation and running of the camp; planning the co-designing of afternoon camp curriculum in line with LEAF values and educational design principles (see What you can expect at the LEAF Summer English Camp part). This is an assignment from March 2015 (could be part time based on availability) until August 31, 2015 with full-time engagement for the camp (3. - 23.8.), with a potential for further extension. In the aim to fulfill this mission, LEAF has launched a portfolio of programs focusing on Improving education experience of talented high school students (e.g. mentoring portal, leadership camps, scholarships, teacher mentoring); Mitigation of brain-drain (e.g. internships in Slovakia); Development of talented young professionals (e.g. skill-based voluntary program). What you can expect at the LEAF Summer English Camp Goals of the Camp include: To enhance English language skills of participants and build their confidence in using English. To develop students in the four areas of ethics, excellence, entrepreneurial leadership and (civic) engagement To motivate them for further growth and action after the camps We expect to welcome 50 students aged 13 to 16, 2/3 from Slovakia, 1/3 from Central Europe and international. The camp offers all its participants full immersion in the English language for the duration of 19 days. Students will work in small groups of up to 10 students according to different skill levels, starting from the lower intermediate level. The curriculum will include topics related to the four program pillars – entrepreneurial leadership, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), Central European studies and character development. During afternoons, students will work at clubs with project-based teaching around program pillars: Entrepreneurial Leadership - real-life problem solving, design activities with impact, practical application; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) - hands-on science education built around an experiment or real-life data set; Central European studies - an innovative syllabus integrating “humanities” with a specific focus on the culture of the Central European region, arts and creativity; Character Education and Self-Awareness - specific approach to develop attitudes related to LEAF’s four E values: activities such as ethical dilemmas, games on self-awareness, discovering passions and ambitions; A positive community and relationship building: sports, theatre, adventurous activities, morning sharing and evening reflection, inspirational speakers, meetings with mentors and Alumni What kind of person we are looking for: Excellent command of the English language Experience with planning and delivery of educational opportunities for a similar target-group of young people and experience-based education Focus on quality, delivery and creating meaningful relationships with both students and staff Knowledge of and interest in leading activities related entrepreneurship, leadership, character development, sciences, and Central Europe Enthusiasm, creativity, responsibility, punctuality, patience and a genuine love for children Ability to lead and work as a member of a team Ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision First aid certificate is an advantage What we offer: POTENTIAL LONG TERM COOPERATION:There is a possibility for long term cooperation to join our team at LEAF days during Autumn 2015 and Spring 2016 and future opportunities at LEAF Academy (in preparation).
