About the role
Job Responsibilities: • Considers age-related factors in the care, treatment, assessment and education of patients. Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. • Performs direct patient care as ordered by the physicians, i.e., injections, suture removal, dressing changes and other duties as required. • Communicates to the patient and/or patient's family information with regards to specific health care needs, i.e., signs and symptoms, reaction to medication therapy and precautions, wound care, medication administration and others as needed. • Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care; including minor surgical procedures. • Monitors and ensures accuracy of documentation on patient medical records on a timely basis. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc. • Schedules patients for various x-rays, scans, surgical procedures and hospital admissions appropriately. • Assists in maintaining an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment. • Prepares rooms for exams as specified by each individual physician. • Performs ancillary patient care duties through calling prescriptions to pharmacies and assisting the physicians with return calls to patients. • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards, conforming to OSHA regulations and other agencies. • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs to maintain state licensure. • Codes office visits i.e., examination, office surgery for reimbursement using CPT-ICD-10 codes which complement each other. • Ensures and seeks to improve nursing standards and nursing care practices to meet new office practice concepts and managerial methods. • Performs other duties as assigned or requested. Education: Graduate of a school of nursing. Current RN license required. Experience: Minimum one year experience in medical/surgical nursing or related clinical experience.
