About the role

As a System Function Responsible (SFR) for Safety, you will take ownership of safety-relevant system function topics within our automotive radar platform, acting as a key interface between system engineering, software platform teams, hardware/SoC experts and functional safety stakeholders. This role combines technical depth with coordination responsibility and will contribute to long-term development work for future Bosch radar generations.

Your contribution to something big:

- Take responsibility for safety-related system function topics within Bosch radar platforms, with a strong focus on SoC, hardware/software interaction and sensor availability. - Understand and assess safety concepts for SoCs, including SoC management, monitoring, reset behavior, boot behavior and safety mechanism relevance for radar use cases. - Act as a technical counterpart for hardware/software safety topics, supporting the clarification of whether observed behavior represents a functional safety issue or an expected system limitation. - Coordinate safety-related development activities triggered by hardware or SoC changes, such as new radar processing platform variants, updated PHY/interface configurations or customer-specific hardware enablement. - Contribute to Technical Safety Concept discussions by translating system and hardware constraints into clear software and platform requirements. - Evaluate the need, applicability and impact of safety mechanisms in the radar context, including cases where mechanisms may need to be adapted, removed or justified as not required for a specific use case. - Drive alignment with software platform teams and relevant stakeholders to ensure safety requirements, assumptions and constraints are understood, tracked and implemented consistently. - Support requirements engineering, impact analysis, change management and risk assessment for safety-relevant system function topics throughout the development lifecycle. - Provide transparency on status, dependencies, risks and mitigation actions, ensuring proactive communication across engineering teams and stakeholders.

What distinguishes you:

Education:

- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or a comparable field.

Experience:

- Professional experience in embedded software development, system engineering or automotive device development. - Experience in safety-relevant or safety-critical environments, ideally with ISO 26262, is an advantage.

Know-how:

- Strong software background with solid understanding of embedded systems, system requirements, software/platform architecture and hardware/software interfaces. - Knowledge of SoC concepts, boot/startup behavior, reset handling, monitoring concepts, sensor availability and radar systems is highly beneficial.

Safety understanding:

- Ability to understand functional safety concepts and translate them into system, software and platform requirements. - Experience with Technical Safety Concepts, safety mechanisms, safety analyses or assumptions of use is an advantage.

Technical mindset:

- Ability to analyze complex technical topics across software and hardware boundaries, identify dependencies, clarify ambiguous behavior and support sound engineering decisions.

Languages:

- Very good English skills, both written and spoken (mandatory).

Working style and methods:

- Structured, analytical and proactive approach, with the ability to coordinate long-term development topics, manage dependencies and drive progress in complex environments.

Personality:

- Strong sense of ownership and responsibility, collaborative mindset, clear communication style and ability to lead technical alignment without formal authority.

This is more than a job. It's a chance to be part of a global movement, providing drivers with the ultimate support in critical situations and fundamentally improving road safety for everyone. If you are keen to create technology that matters, your journey starts here.
