About the role

SUMMARY Reporting to the Supervisor of Fine and Performing Arts, the Music and Movement Mentor coordinates the educational, creative, and administrative functions of the VIA (Very Important Arts) program. This position combines program coordination responsibilities with direct instruction in music and movement for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities at Opportunity Village and throughout the community. This role supports scheduling, enrollment, communication, reporting, documentation, curriculum implementation, and performance coordination while fostering creativity, self-expression, skill development, and community engagement through music and movement programming. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Utilize appropriate methods for working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Reinforce and positively engage in Opportunity Village’s organizational culture, supporting the choice and creativity of participants. Develop and implement engaging class curriculum and performance-based activities that promote self-expression, teamwork, motor skills, focus, and creativity. Teach music and movement classes to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities at Opportunity Village campuses and in community settings. Coordinate VIA school scheduling and maintain program calendars, meetings, and schedules. Support recruitment and enrollment activities for VIA. Teach, prepare, and rehearse performance pieces for Opportunity Village and community events throughout the year. Work collaboratively with FPA leadership, Music & Dance Mentors, Teaching Artists, and administrative team members to ensure successful program operations and performances. Assist with the completion of required documentation, as needed, including ID notes, vital sheets, communication logs, schedules, RAD forms, and incident reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements. Maintain inventory of assigned equipment, supplies, and program materials. Ensure all proper documentation is complete (i.e. ID notes, vital sheets, communication logs, schedules, RAD forms and incident reports). Respond to telephone calls, emails, and community inquiries. Understand and comply with OSHA, infection control, and all Opportunity Village safety policies and procedures. Report suspected Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation, Isolation, and Abandonment (ANEIA) immediately, as mandated by state law. Some travel to a variety of locations in the Las Vegas area. Must be able to meet all requirements of OV vehicle policies and travel: Between worksite locations Within the community 17. Adhere to Opportunity Village's established policies and procedures. 18. May be assigned other duties as needed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position does not directly supervise others.
