About the role
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: EDI Program Coordinator role is intended to support the Office of Equity Diversity and Inclusion (OEDI) to 1) lead the College’s efforts to nurture a sense of belonging for equity-deserving students attending/thinking of attending DC, and 2) increase the capacity of DC’s students to help foster a culture of inclusion and belonging where all students, faculty, and staff are safe from discrimination, harassment, hate and violence; and have equitable access to opportunities. Provide 1:1 Navigation Support Case Management to Equity-Deserving Students Enhance and maintain relevant case management documentation Provide emotional support, campus and community services navigation, referrals and warm handovers, and advocacy as appropriate Maintain and enhance community-resources list (website list) and associated hard copy materials Deliver the Mentorship Program for Identity-based Student Groups Collaborate with Durham College Student Association (DCSA) to provide mentorship to identity-based student groups on internal group development, recruitment retention, succession planning, advocacy within College system and wider society, human rights capacity building, facilitating partnerships, and data collection Support identity-based student groups to curate community-care initiatives Facilitate the Student Human Rights Capacity Building Program Create educational and promotional content for the OEDI microsite and social media pertaining to OEDI services and resources, days of awareness etc. Collaborate with relevant departments across the College to deliver in-person programming (and development of associated materials) which promotes student awareness of the OEDI services and resources that support equity-deserving students Develop and deliver interactive in-person learning opportunities Outreach to Potential Students who are Equity-deserving Identify, coordinate and/or facilitate outreach opportunities in collaboration with relevant departments across the College (e.g. facilitating workshop sessions as part of DC Open House and Program Information Night events; group-specific events/tours on campus; off campus events hosted by community partners) Cultivate Coordinate DC-Community Partnerships Relevant to Identity-based Students Coordinate the EDI Community of Practice consisting of community-based partners led by/serving equity-deserving communities in the Durham Region Identify opportunities for community-DC partnerships that support DC’s equity-deserving students and foster and support the connections needed to establish these partnerships. Oversee the operations Multi-Faith Quiet Spaces including connecting with users on an ongoing basis to understand needs, share concerns for threats to inclusivity, and collaboratively develop solutions; collaborate with campus community users to facilitate bookings with support of DCSA; Market the space to campus community users via social media Program Evaluation Conduct knowledge gathering and documentation on the impact of all program activities to support development of departmental and institutional plans and reports including but not limited to: 1) Ontario Postsecondary Access and Inclusion Program (OPAIP) design and reporting for the Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security (MCURES); 2) Harassment Discrimination Prevention and Response Annual Report; 4) DC Annual Business Plan; 5) OEDI Workplan Other Related Duties as Required: Support planning and administration related to activities/ responsibilities of the OEDI team; Provide support to student employees and placement students.
