About the role
Job Description: Under supervision of the CDC Deacon Advisor and the Director of Operation, providing developmental care and supervision to staff and children enrolled in the Child Development Program. You will be looked to for answers, direction and assistance. Enforce regulations under DHR and Progressive Union Child Development Center guidelines. Perform related work as required. Scope: The Child Care Center Manager helps establish classroom policies and procedures for children's development and safety; ensures that center maintains proper license requirements and implements State regulations. Ensures consistent implementation of educational goals and program policies; monitors children developmental and educational progress. Key Duties and Responsibilities: (Examples of the key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and restrictive in nature) Confers with teachers on planning and implementation of curriculum to ensure consistency of educational program. Recommend supplies and materials needed to enhance the curriculum. Participates in the planning and implementation of curriculum. Records observations and communicates developmental information to teachers and parents. Ensures that center, rooms and play areas are maintained in a clean, orderly, and safe condition. Helps maintain ratios. Provides information to parents concerning their children's development, abilities, and areas of concern; explains program procedures and classroom activities as requested. Provide routine information as needed. Monitors teachers to ensure quality of teaching methods and support for program goals. May have to help out in classes as needed. Maintains current knowledge and required training in the field of Early Childhood Development. Must have Time Management Skills. Must be able to coordinate the daily operations of the Child Development Center in the absence of the Child Care Director. Must be knowledgeable and able to use all Child Development software. Employment standards. Receives parents, answers and handles incoming calls, with courtesy and respect, and correspondence for the child development center and routing calls accordingly. Determines a suitable and acceptable resolution for issues or problems as they arise. Ability To: Meet State and Federal regulations; enforce and apply all laws, rules and regulations; read understand and interpret standard official legal documents. Exercise judgment and discretion in analyzing and resolving problems. Read correct and prepare clear and concise reports. Give and follow written and oral instruction. Maintain cooperative working relationships. Knowledge Of: Early Childhood Developmental and appropriate practices for children; concepts of the A-Beka curriculum implementation; skills in establishing and maintaining effective communications with adults and children. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or 5 years of child development experience. 2 year of administrative experience. Knowledgeable with computer programs and Headmasters software. Self-starter with time management skills. First Aide/CPR certification. Special Requirements: Must be able to perform physical activities such as but not limited to, lifting children or heavy items up to 50 lbs. unassisted, bending, standing, climbing and walking. Must be able to work safely in an environment containing biological conditions which may be unhealthful or hazardous (such as bodily fluids and waste, germs, childhood diseases). Must pass fingerprint clearance test for all appropriate agencies (such as FBI, ABI and child Abuse Neglect Services). May be tested for drug and! or alcohol at any time.
