Job Description The Idaho State University Nuclear Engineering Department is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The Department is seeking candidates with capabilities and experience in various Nuclear Engineering fields. Candidates with nuclear oriented digital twin, machine learning, or artificial intelligence are especially sought. The Idaho State University Nuclear Engineering Department offers Nuclear Engineering degrees at the bachelors, masters and Ph.D. levels. Most departmental lecture courses are simultaneously available on the Pocatello and Idaho Falls campuses, and also are available online via the University’s online learning management system (LMS). Many courses are provided in the early evening to accommodate Idaho National Laboratory employees. This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered. Key Responsibilities The Nuclear Engineering Department faculty conduct research in a variety of areas including: reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, nuclear fuels and materials, scientific computing, and nuclear safety. The Department benefits from connections to Idaho National Laboratory as well as many other laboratories with the Department of Energy. On-campus education and research facilities include the ISU AGN-201 nuclear reactor and a subcritical facility. Successful candidates will be expected to teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, develop externally funded research, and contribute to the operation and promotion of the Department, the University and the profession.
