About the role

Position Summary: The ICQC Produce Quality Coordinator will work in an open warehouse environment and in a cooler/freezer to help review, assess and inventory perishable and non-perishable food products through Philabundance’s warehouse system. This position will coordinate with the Warehouse team to assess, track, and report on the inventory, quality of food received, and the integrity of the orders processed at Philabundance. This position also regularly coordinates with staff in the Transportation, Warehouse, Community Partnerships, and Food Sourcing teams to ensure appropriate metrics and goals are met. The ICQC Produce Quality Coordinator will oversee and inspect all inbound produce freight – both purchase and donated – and apply different quality to metrics to both. They will communicate with key stakeholders throughout PHLB to prioritize the flow of produce items as dictated by shelf life and other quality concerns throughout the internal supply chain, and they will flag produce for gleaning and repack projects as necessary. The ICQC Produce Quality Coordinator must provide coverage for the warehouse during key shipping and receiving times. The position may operate on a staggered shift schedule, with overtime/evenings/weekends as needed. The Inventory and Quality team needs to maintain flexibility in our working locations. Associates will be assigned in advance for the location with priority needs. Primary Responsibilities: Inspect inbound freight, in stock products, and outgoing shipments for quality, damage, and temperature. Document findings as needed. Reject any wrong or unacceptable products and report all issues with inbound shipments to the Food Sourcing Department. Communicate any quality concerns or rejected loads with purchased and donated produce to Food Sourcing colleagues Communicate with Sourcing Department as needed on all quality issues and assist the operations team in resolving issues to ensure our neighbors receive the highest quality produce possible. Create item cards for all donated produce. Support food safety and quality programs as needed. Complete daily walk of all in stock produce, document any quality concerns, communicate and document all product rotation needs based on a combination of “first in first out” and quality concerns to warehouse team, and partner with ICQC Manager to address any inventory that would need to be composted or wasted At the end of each daily walk communicate any produce that might need to be sorted or repacked to Warehouse, Community Partners, and Volunteers team daily to ensure as much food as possible is saved and not wasted At the end of each daily walk review all rotation needs against those previously communicated and report any uncompleted rotations to warehouse/operations leads Attend weekly Produce Allocation Meeting with all key stakeholders and provide timely feedback to the group on what produce needs to move with urgency, what produce can hold, address concerns re: donors or vendors, address concerns re: external partners returning food Monitor all produce that is returned from external partners for quality concerns. Communicate with Community Partners any external groups returning product for invalid reasons. Communicate and address returned quality concerns with Food Sourcing Process Agency Returns for all returned produce Monitor all incoming USDA produce and collaborate with Food Sourcing as needed to report any quality or inventory concerns Maintain accuracy of all produce inventory through daily cycle counts ensuring that all produce currently in stock in warehouse is available to Community Partnerships team for distribution Analyze, identify, and propose action to the solution of problems associated with Quality Assurance. Observe and follow all safety rules, regulations, and sanitation policies. Maintain a clean and organized working environment. Follows safety regulations. Participate in process improvement activities. Monitor temperature of storage areas daily and record. Escalate any variances as needed to Facilities team
