Vessel Information Type: Container Ship Gross Tonnage: 9998 Dead Weight: 13300 Built Year: 2023 Flag: MHL Engine Maker: MAN B&W Joining Date: 08 September 2026 Key Responsibilities The Bosun is responsible to the Chief Officer for: · Assisting in the planning and execution of maintenance and operational work tasks · Instructing and supervising Able Seamen and Ordinary Seamen in accordance with Company safety policy and quality standards · Effectively performing assigned tasks in conformance with safe work procedures and in accordance with instructions given by the Supervising Officer · Ensuring that work such as entry into enclosed spaces, hot work and work aloft is not undertaken without prior approval of the Chief Officer · Training and supervising all subordinates to effectively perform various work tasks as required · Maintaining all tools, equipment, stores etc, in good order and monitoring and/or obtaining stock as requested by the Chief Officer · Ensuring the readiness of the windlasses/winches for immediate use prior to entering confined waters and/or prior to arrival · Operating the windlass, under the direction of the Officer assigned to the forecastle mooring station, during anchoring or mooring operations · Anchoring duties as directed by the Chief Officer · During cargo operations, responsible to the Deck Officers for maintaining a safe deck watch (if required) and ensuring that the vessel remains securely moored. · Assisting in cargo operations (inc. tank cleaning, sweeping) as required by the Chief Officer and/or Officer on Watch · Undertaking any other tasks, duties as instructed by the Chief Officer Skills, Knowledge and Expertise The job requires: · Good team working skills · Ability to perform all tasks in an orderly, well planned way · Comfortable following instructions and asking for clarification if necessary · Good communication skills in particular giving clear guidance to others
