About the role
As a Flight Test Engineer , you will be a key part of our Flight Test Team , supporting the local manufacturing, testing, and operational validation of advanced drone systems in Romania. Together with our World-Class Team, you will play an empowering role in delivering systems for one of Romania's most significant defense procurement programs, with drone assembly taking place entirely in Romania under the European SAFE initiative. The Romanian production site will not only support local defense programs but will also contribute to fulfilling customer orders across Europe and support the delivery of mission-critical systems for Ukraine, reinforcing Quantum Systems' commitment to strengthening European security and defense capabilities. As part of this strategic investment, Quantum Systems is rapidly expanding its presence in Romania and plans to hire up to 50 employees in 2026 and up to 150 employees in 2027 . StartupCafe article about Quantum Systems in Romania You will be working closely with stakeholders from the Flight Test, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Production, and Customer Operations teams to ensure that Quantum Systems' UAV platforms are tested, validated, and prepared for reliable operational use. Your mission will be to plan, execute, analyze, and document flight test activities while supporting the continuous improvement of our autonomous systems and contributing to the delivery of mission-critical solutions across Europe and Ukraine. What is your Day-to-Day Mission: Plan, prepare, and execute UAV flight test activities in accordance with test plans, safety procedures, and operational requirements. Support the validation and verification of aircraft systems, payloads, software releases, and mission equipment. Prepare UAV platforms, ground control stations, payloads, batteries, and supporting equipment for flight test operations. Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks to ensure safe and reliable test execution. Collect, analyze, and interpret flight data to evaluate system performance and identify improvement opportunities. Document flight test results, technical findings, anomalies, and operational observations. Support troubleshooting activities and root cause analysis for flight-related technical issues. Collaborate with Engineering teams to validate design changes, software updates, and system improvements. Work closely with Manufacturing and Quality teams to support production acceptance testing and product readiness. Contribute to the development and improvement of test procedures, flight manuals, checklists, and operational documentation. Ensure compliance with aviation safety standards, company procedures, and local regulatory requirements. Support customer demonstrations, acceptance tests, and operational field activities when required. Drive continuous improvement of flight test processes, safety standards, and test efficiency.
