Position Scope: The Upper School Math Teacher engages students in grades 9–12 across a range of courses, from foundational to Honors and Advanced Placement. The ideal candidate inspires curiosity, fosters critical thinking, and helps students connect mathematics to real-world applications. Essential Functions • Ability to teach a range of high school math courses, demonstrating the ability to cover the full curriculum, including Honors and AP as assigned. • Design engaging, student-centered lessons that promote problem-solving and inquiry. • Differentiate instruction to meet varied learning needs. • Use graphing calculators, digital platforms, and interactive tools to enhance instruction. • Assess student progress and provide timely feedback. • Foster a classroom culture of curiosity, respect, and perseverance. • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues. • Collaborate on curriculum alignment and cross-disciplinary initiatives. • Serve as an advisor once established at Bolles, building meaningful relationships with students. • Participate in professional development, meetings, and school events. • Model lifelong learning and professional growth. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or related field required; Master’s preferred. • Minimum three years teaching experience, ideally in an independent school. • Ability to teach the full range of high school mathematics courses. • Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills. • Commitment to an inclusive and engaging learning environment. • Proficiency with educational technology and willingness to explore new tools. • Dedication to the mission and values of The Bolles School.
