About the role
Job Summary: The Aluminum Department Lead provides area leadership and direct supervision to the Aluminum Team while serving as the lead worker to the Aluminum Department crew members on a particular shift providing day-to-day management. In addition, the Lead may perform all Aluminum Department tasks (e.g., Fin Machine setup/operation, Easel setup/production, Pre-Braze core prep, Brazing, Core Testing, head manufacturing, etc.) as necessary. The Lead receives directions from the Aluminum Supervisor and the Operations Manager. The Aluminum Department Lead will develop training procedures, cross training initiatives, process improvement work plans by combining company strategies with specific assignments and resolves most problems independently. The Aluminum Department Lead will champion the REACH core values at Engendren. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following with other duties assigned as necessary : With the direction of the Aluminum Department Manager, the Lead will assign work to the Aluminum Department Team and plan workflow according to production capabilities and schedule. Reviews job orders (written or verbal) and establishes/interprets manufacturing specifications. Lead department daily safety stretching and/or daily kick off meetings. Particapates in the daily Gemba walk. Ensure that Aluminum Team is aware of day-to-day production output expectations. Manage work order closures and inventory control transactions. Upholds work rules, counsel’s employees, and initiates disciplinary measures where appropriate. Conducts work-in-progress and spot-checks completed work to ensure that standards are met. Advises company management on technical core manufacturing issues and recommends changes. Troubleshoots all Aluminum Department equipment and machinery problems and coordinates repairs with the Aluminum Supervisor, Maintenance, and outside vendors. Ensure that equipment is in working order. Responsible for the training of operators and assemblers for products and processes within the department. Ensures that work areas, equipment and other tools of the trade are clean and properly maintained. Works in a safe manner at all times, ensures that safety rules are followed without exception and participates fully in any and all Company safety programs. Ensures that all work is done in accordance with and adheres to IEA’s ISO and Quality standards. Ensures that the necessary equipment, tools, PPE, and supplies are available and in working order to complete assignments. Keeps Team members informed about rules, regulations, policies, and objectives. Collaborates with the Team to identify ways to improve department effectiveness; implements viable ideas. Interface with the planning department to determine schedules for shift production and material and labor constraints. Resolves conflicts that may arise among Team members and/or other employees. Monitors and enter scrap material accumulation into the ERP system. Ensure that the tools in the department are properly calibrated. Always ensures full adherence to 6S practices. Support and comply with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures. Identify and report non-conforming material to quality department on a daily basis, using proper company forms such as but not limited, MRR’s, scrap log forms, and ECR’s. Liaise and communicate with other departments and ensure an effective interface is maintained. Undertake continuous training and development. Performs root cause analysis and resolve problems. Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with Company attendance procedures. Carry out incident and accident reporting in a timely matter. Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them. Communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from the strategic quarterly and annual plan so that each employee is aware of expectations and deliverables. This includes representing and delivering the weekly KPI performance of the Aluminum Department in the TOP meetings. Other duties as requested by Management.
