Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Software Developer who will be part of a team that builds a state-of-the-art telematics platform that makes sense of the data collected by our custom-built hardware. This position will involve writing high-performance C# code and SQL queries to process and store this information in real-time, as well as JavaScript and TypeScript code to create fast and responsive user interfaces. If you love technology, and are keen to join an industry leader — we would love to hear from you!

What you'll do:

As a Software Developer your key area of responsibility will be defining, designing, and implementing new software applications, translating application storyboards and use cases into functional applications, and performing Test-Driven and Security-Driven Development. You will conduct comprehensive code reviews, analyze call stacks, trace files, debug logs, and performance data to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of bugs, and participate in the development of prototypes, minimum viable products, and proofs of concept. You will need to work closely with other members of the development and technical teams to consider functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and system architecture for each assignment.

To be successful in this role you will be a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to quickly understand complex, technical concepts. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and respond to fast-changing priorities and deadlines.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Define, design, and implement new software applications in collaboration with other members of the development and technical teams, based on industry standards and best practices.
  • Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications.
  • Perform Test-Driven and Security-Driven Development.
  • Conduct comprehensive code reviews and ensure that coding standards are followed.
  • Analyze call stacks, trace files, debug logs, or performance data to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of bugs.
  • Participate in development of prototypes, minimum viable products, and PoCs.
  • Provide design documents and documentation to ensure efficient maintenance and code reuse.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-5 years of previous experience in a related field.
  • Experience using Linux, C#, and .Net, with object-oriented design, unit testing, optimization, and multithreaded programming.</spa
