About the role
The appointee will join a joint research team bringing together the Freshwater Biodiversity Ecosystem Functioning Lab (led by Dr. Alphonse Tsang) and Applied Ecology and Conservation Laboratory (led by Dr. Roger Lee). The candidate will play a key role in managing an aquatic insect conservation project in South Lantau’s freshwater marshes. Responsibilities • Conduct field surveys in freshwater marshes to establish an ecological baseline for aquatic insects • Curate and digitize aquatic insect specimen collections • Establish a DNA barcoding library for aquatic insects in freshwater marshes • Conduct and advance environmental DNA (eDNA) methods in freshwater marshes • Oversee project progress and prepare progress reports • Prepare educational and public outreach materials to promote aquatic insect conservation • Perform other education- and research-related duties assigned
