CORE Volunteers

A VIP (Very Important Person) is a volunteer or docent who is brought on as part of the Great Basin Institute (GBI) Galena Creek Visitor Center team, on temporary or semi-permanent assignment and may commit to 16 hours (more are permitted) or as few as 4 hours per week. Essential Job Functions The volunteer will serve the Galena Creek Visitor Center and its visitors through completion of the following duties Provide interpretive services to members of the local community and visitors; Assist with coordination, preparation and presentation of interpretive programming; Visitor communication and outreach; Guide tours and lead interpretive programs; Perform site maintenance; Assist with conception, drafting, and preparing field trips and environmental camps; Help to oversee gift shop operations; Help with special events, including security and set-up/tear-down; Other duties may be assigned, or developed, based on the volunteer’s interests, capacity, and site needs.
