About the role
Who We Are
At KEV, we build mission-critical financial software for K–12 schools at massive scale. Our platform delivers real-time control and visibility into every dollar collected—cash, check, or digital—replacing fragmented workflows with secure, modern systems. Trusted by 27,000 K–12 schools and districts managing over $8B annually, KEV operates at the intersection of payments, accounting, and reporting, where complexity is high and engineering excellence matters. Headquartered in Toronto with teams across North America, we are scaling fast and investing deeply in cloud-native, data-driven technology. If you want to build high-impact SaaS products that solve hard problems, scale with purpose, and make your work matter in public education, KEV is the place to do it.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead design on ePay—our new digital disbursements and payments product—and the adjacent products that surround it. ePay is an early-stage, high-ambition initiative spanning district transfers, vendor payouts, and the broader School Cash ecosystem; the experience you shape will define how schools and districts move money safely and confidently.
This is a senior, end-to-end role. You will own discovery from first principles—framing the problem, running the research, and pressure-testing concepts—then carry the work through to polished, accessible delivery and post-launch iteration. You will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, security and compliance partners, customers, and leadership to translate genuinely complex financial workflows into clear, elegant solutions. The ideal candidate is a strategic problem solver with strong UX and UI craft who is comfortable operating with ambiguity and minimal hand-holding in a fast-paced B2B SaaS environment.
How You’ll Contribute
- Own discovery end-to-end— frame the problem, define research questions, and lead a rigorous UX research and concept-testing process that validates real demand before significant build investment.
- Drive design from discovery through delivery— own ePay and adjacent initiatives across the full lifecycle, from requirements and flow definition through implementation and post-launch iteration, driving high-quality outcomes.
- Map and simplify complex workflows— turn multi-step payment, approval, and disbursement flows into clear end-to-end journeys, wireframes, mockups, and clickable prototypes that communicate concepts and de-risk decisions early.
- Conduct user research and usability testing— plan and run moderated and unmoderated studies with bookkeepers, district staff, and other stakeholders to validate assumptions and inform design decisions.
