The Position:
The Associate Medical Affairs Director will provide strategic scientific leadership for Veracyte's Medical Affairs activities across the United Kingdom, supporting the adoption of the company's precision oncology portfolio, including Prosigna ® .
This individual will be responsible for developing and executing the regional Medical Affairs strategy, building long-term scientific partnerships with leading experts, driving evidence generation initiatives, and ensuring scientific excellence across cross-functional activities. The role requires a highly experienced Medical Affairs professional with deep expertise in breast cancer, molecular diagnostics and precision oncology. The ideal candidate will live in the United Kingdom.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Strategy
- Develop and execute the regional Medical Affairs Plan aligned with global medical strategy.
- Identify scientific opportunities and evidence gaps to support the adoption of Veracyte's diagnostic portfolio.
- Contribute to annual medical planning, prioritization of activities and resource allocation.
- Support launch readiness and lifecycle management of current and future diagnostic solutions.
Scientific Leadership
- Serve as the scientific leader for breast cancer diagnostics within the assigned region.
- Build and maintain long-term scientific partnerships with leading breast cancer Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Cooperative Groups, Academic Research Organizations and Scientific Societies.
- Represent Medical Affairs in cross-functional strategic discussions.
- Provide scientific leadership and guidance to Commercial, Market Access, Clinical Operations, R&D and Business Development teams while ensuring full compliance with applicable regulations.
KOL Engagement
- Develop trusted scientific relationships with national and international breast cancer experts.
- Lead scientific exchange through one-to-one interactions, Advisory Boards, scientific meetings and educational initiatives.
- Identify emerging scientific leaders and strengthen Veracyte's academic collaborations.
- Support faculty identification and development for educational activities.
Evidence Generation
- Develop strategies supporting Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS), collaborative research and Real-World Evidence (RWE) generation.
- Evaluate investigator-sponsored research proposals and oversee scientific collaboration throughout study execution.
- Contribute to publication planning and scientific dissemination activities.
- Identify opportunities for new clinical evidence supporting Prosigna ® and future genomic assays.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with Commercial, Clinical Operations, Marketing and Market Access.
- Provide scientific coaching to internal stakeholders.
- Support medical education initiatives and internal scientific training.
- Gather actionable medical insights and translate them into strategic recommendations.
Scientific Expertise
- Conduct high-quality scientific presentations during congresses, scientific meetings, hospital visits and educational programs.
- Respond to unsolicited scientific requests in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Monitor developments in breast cancer, precision oncology and molecular diagnostics.
- Maintain expert knowledge of competitors, emerging technologies and treatment guidelines.
Who You Are:
Required Experience
- Advanced scientific degree (MD, PharmD or PhD preferred).
- Minimum of 8–10 years of Medical Affairs experience within oncology, molecular diagnostics, biotechnology or precision medicine.
- Strong scientific expertise in breast cancer and genomic diagnostics.
- Extensive experience developing long-term collaborations with breast cancer KOLs.
- Existing relationships with leading breast cancer Cooperative Groups, Academic Institutions and Scientific Societies across the UK and Europe are highly desirable.
- Proven experience leading medical strategy and evidence generation initiatives.
- Experience supporting Investigator-Initiated Studies and Real-World Evidence programs.
- Previous experience supporting product launches is preferred.
- Strong understanding of the UK healthcare environment and breast cancer treatment pathways.
