More information on the job vacancy you have selected is available below, however if you have any additional questions please contact the HR Department on 01227 773200 or email HR@amphenol.co.uk: The Vacancy: We are recruiting for a Buyer to join our team and be responsible for ensuring materials, components and services are available to support production schedules through effective supplier management and purchase order control. The role requires a proactive approach, maintaining regular contact with suppliers, anticipating potential delivery issues and working collaboratively to resolve challenges before they impact the business. We're looking for someone who enjoys building relationships and isn't afraid to pick up the phone. The successful candidate will be naturally proactive, persistent when required, and comfortable challenging suppliers constructively to achieve the best outcome for the business. They will take ownership of issues, communicate clearly, and work collaboratively with both suppliers and internal teams to keep production running smoothly. Duties and responsibilities • Raise and manage purchase orders in line with production schedules and business requirements. • Maintain regular contact with suppliers to monitor order status and delivery commitments. • Proactively expedite purchase orders and challenge suppliers where delivery dates are at risk. • Build positive working relationships with suppliers to ensure open communication and effective problem solving. • Take ownership of supply-related issues, working with suppliers to identify solutions and minimise disruption to production. • Communicate potential shortages, delays or risks to internal stakeholders in a timely manner. • Work closely with planning, production and stores teams to understand changing priorities and material requirements. • Review MRP and purchasing reports to identify purchasing requirements and actions required. • Ensure purchasing data, order information and supplier records are accurately maintained. • Support stock accuracy and participate in stocktaking activities as required. • Identify opportunities to improve supplier performance, communication and purchasing processes. • Carry out other duties reasonably required by the business.
