Production Assembler Location: Melsonby – Factory Salary: Competitive Business Division: SWARCO UK & Ireland We’re looking for a Production Assembler to join our manufacturing team at our Melsonby factory . This is a hands-on opportunity for someone with an electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical or manufacturing background who enjoys practical work and takes pride in producing high-quality products. You’ll play an important role in assembling, wiring, testing and preparing a range of SWARCO products and equipment, working from technical drawings and specifications to ensure everything is completed safely, accurately and to the required standard. What you will do As a Production Assembler, you’ll work as part of our manufacturing team, carrying out a variety of electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly activities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Assembling electrical, electronic and mechanical products and equipment Preparing cables, connectors and wiring looms Carrying out cabinet wiring and fitting electrical components, including transformers Assembling traffic signal controllers, variable message signs, enclosures and associated equipment Assembling mechanical components, including prisms and trailers Reading and following technical drawings, specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and kit lists Carrying out basic functional testing of completed products Using hand and power tools safely and effectively Supporting PCB assembly/repair and basic mechanical assembly activities Preparing and fitting sign faces and assembling MDU units Carrying out self-quality checks and reporting any issues or non-conformances Ensuring work is completed safely and in line with SWARCO's Health & Safety procedures Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient working environment in line with 5S principles Supporting continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives Assisting with the packing and preparation of finished products for dispatch You may also be required to move between different manufacturing cells depending on production requirements and support general factory improvement activities when required.MechanicalEngineering #ITS #SWARCO #LI-EW1 What we are looking for We’re looking for someone who is practical, reliable and detail-focused , with the ability to follow technical instructions and take pride in delivering quality work. Ideally, you will have: Experience of working in an electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical or manufacturing environment Relevant electrical, mechanical or manufacturing training or qualification The ability to read and follow technical drawings, specifications, BOMs or similar documentation Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work An awareness of quality and safe working practices The ability to use hand tools and, ideally, power tools Good communication skills The ability to work independently as well as part of a team A reliable and proactive approach to your work The flexibility to manage changing workloads and priorities Desirable: Experience working with traffic signal controllers, variable message signs or similar equipment Previous experience of product testing Experience with PCB assembly or repair Experience working within a 5S or continuous improvement environment Don't have traffic industry experience?
