About the role

Girard College is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual for the position of Head Coach - Middle School Coed Flag Football. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of flag football fundamentals, positive leadership, and the ability to foster a fun, inclusive, and development-focused team culture aligned with the mission of Girard College. Position Type: Stipend position (no benefits) Reports To: Athletic Director Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage all aspects of the middle school coed flag football program Teach age-appropriate fundamentals, rules, and strategies of flag football Develop in-season training plans focused on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship Foster academic achievement, character development, and respect among student-athletes Organize and oversee tryouts, practices, and all scheduled games (home and away) Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants Ensure compliance with all school policies and league regulations Communicate effectively with players, parents/guardians, and school stakeholders Manage team equipment, uniforms, and inventory Submit and manage program needs in coordination with the Athletic Director Support athlete health and safety by following care plans and maintaining First Aid/CPR/AED certifications Coordinate team transportation and maintain vehicle cleanliness and fuel levels as needed Attend Athletic Department meetings when scheduled by the Athletic Director Community Engagement & Program Support: Serve as a positive representative and ambassador of Girard College and its athletic programs Support the Athletic Department’s mission by encouraging participation and sportsmanship Build relationships with middle school staff and youth sports organizations as appropriate Required Skills: Knowledge of flag football rules, fundamentals, and player development Ability to motivate, teach, and mentor middle school student-athletes Clear, age-appropriate communication with players, parents/guardians, and staff Demonstrated leadership, professionalism, and positive role modeling Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions Understanding of how to build a development-focused, values-driven middle school program Time Commitment: In-Season: Practices: Weekdays, 1-2 hours/day Mandatory attendance at all scheduled games Season Length: Approximately 6-8 weeks Weekend availability may be required Off-Season: Participation in program planning and development as approved by the Athletic Director
