About the role

Support Worker | 3 Months Fixed Term Endeavour Foundation is a leading independent not-for-profit organisation dedicated to making a difference to the lives of people with a disability. Our dynamic and growing organisation provides support for thousands of people in about 300 locations throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. These include accommodation, employment, education, training, vocational and lifestyle opportunities. We have a fixed term (76 hours per fortnight) opportunity for an experienced Disability Support Worker based at Woody Point, Brisbane. In this role you will be supporting people through a range services with a focus on person centred care. A current first aid certificate and willingness to complete sleep over shifts is essential for this position. This position offers an excellent roster with 7 days on / 7 days off. The key duties of these roles are: Participate in the development and implementation of personalised plans for people ensuring that the plan reflects our person centred practice where by individual needs are met and outcomes enhance their abilities, skills and opportunities. Develop programs and activities that encompass the person's needs to ensure the development of people and that a positive image of people with a disability is promoted in the community. Implement positive behavioural support plans and complete associated paperwork to ensure specific support needs are operationalised to achieve better outcomes. Follow daily task schedules including but not limited to all aspects of personal hygiene to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment is provided. Carryout all tasks and functions in accordance with Disability Services Standards and organisational policies and procedures to ensure service operations reflect consistency and support the integrity and reputation of Endeavour Foundation. The right person for the role will: Certificate III or IV in Community Services, Disability Work or Aged care. Proven experience in a similar role working with and supporting people with disability. Demonstrated ability to assist people to identify goals and to assist them to make the necessary choices and decisions to achieve them. Proven ability to plan appropriate support for people with disability taking into consideration their individual needs to ensure support strategies are implemented that are creative, innovative and flexible. Proven ability to apply knowledge of nutrition and hygiene principles in a workplace and/or domestic setting to ensure appropriate safety and health levels are upheld. Have knowledge of relevant legislation and contemporary practices in order to meet all compliance requirements; Be confident with written and verbal communication skills including MS office. Have a current Senior First Aid Certificate or a willingness to acquire within the probation period.
