CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Nursing Clinical Operations Coordinator EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-time REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing DIVISION: Academic Affairs CAMPUS: Central Campus DISTINGUISHING JOB CHARACTERISTICS The Nursing Clinical Coordinator provides leadership and oversight of clinical education experiences for the Practical Nursing (PN) and Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) programs in collaboration with the Director of Nursing (Program Administrator). This role ensures that clinical learning experiences are organized, supervised, and implemented in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code 4723-5, approved nursing curriculum, institutional policy, and accreditation standards. The Clinical Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between the nursing program and clinical agencies and supports faculty in delivering consistent, compliant, and high-quality clinical education. Develops and maintains strong partnerships with representatives of the clinical sites. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform essential duties to expected performance standards. Clinical Education Oversight • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and course lead faculty to support compliance with Ohio Administrative Code 4723-5-19. Assists in ensuring clinical coordination, course implementation, and student evaluation processes align while promoting regulatory compliance and program integrity • Oversee development and coordination of clinical schedules to ensure adequate supervision and completion of required clinical hours. • Ensure clinical placements provide learning experiences aligned with course objectives and program outcomes. • Promote consistency in clinical instruction and evaluation across PN and ADN cohorts. • Support clinical faculty in maintaining safe and effective clinical learning environments. Clinical Instructor & Preceptor Oversight • Support clinical faculty in implementing clinical objectives and evaluation standards. • Review and maintain current preceptor documentation to ensure qualifications and licensure are appropriate. • Ensure precepted experiences remain under appropriate faculty oversight. • Participate in the selection and recommendation of clinical instructors in collaboration with the Director of Nursing. • Provide guidance regarding clinical performance concerns and remediation processes. Clinical Partnerships • Develop and maintain professional relationships with clinical agencies. • Serve as liaison regarding clinical expectations, supervision standards, and student learning outcomes. • Collaborate with clinical partners to ensure student experiences remain within appropriate scope and competency level. • Assist in resolution of clinical issues involving faculty, students, or facilities. • Coordinates completion of clinical affiliation agreements in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and ensures ongoing compliance with established requirements. Compliance & Quality Assurance • Support the Director of Nursing in maintaining compliance with Ohio Board of Nursing requirements for clinical education. • Contribute to documentation required for regulatory and accreditation reporting. • Participate in ongoing program evaluation and clinical quality improvement initiatives. • Maintain readiness for regulatory review and accreditation visits. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs other related duties as required. SCOPE OF SUPERVISION • Recruits clinical instructors in collaboration with clinical partners. • Orients new instructors to role expectations in coordination with the course lead faculty. • Collects evaluation data from clinical instructors and clinical sites to assess the effectiveness of the clinical learning experience and reports findings to the Director of Nursing. • The Director of Nursing retains responsibility for guiding the planning and initiation of performance improvement, with support from the Clinical Coordinator in data collection, monitoring, and follow-through. Current, active, unencumbered RN license in Ohio. Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience. Experience in nursing education or clinical coordination preferred. Must meet faculty qualification standards consistent with Ohio nursing education regulations when functioning in a faculty capacity.
