Mechanical Engineer II — Outdoor Heated

SharkNinja | Needham, MA | On-Site 4+ Days Per Week

Build things people actually use

Most engineers spend years working on one subsystem of one product. Here, you'll take a product from a sketch on a whiteboard to something sitting in millions of homes — and you'll do it in months, not years.

SharkNinja's NPD team designs the products that made us a household name. As a Mechanical Engineer II, you'll own real hardware: designing mechanisms, cutting parts, breaking prototypes, figuring out why they broke, and making the next one better. Our labs, machine shops, and prototyping resources are steps from your desk, not a purchase order away.

If you like being the person who says "give me two days and I'll have something we can test" — read on.

What you'll do

  • Design and build. Take new products from early concept through production — mechanisms, electromechanical assemblies, and the integration of motors, sensors, actuators, PCBs, and controls.
  • Prototype fast. Use our in-house labs, rapid prototyping tools, and supplier network to get functional hardware in hand quickly, then iterate on what you learn.
  • Solve the hard ones. Own hands-on troubleshooting and root-cause analysis when a mechanism, system, or first-of-its-kind idea doesn't behave.
  • Make it real. Translate product requirements into CAD models, drawings, tolerances, and specs that suppliers can actually build to.
  • Make it last. Drive design validation, reliability testing, and DFM/DFA so what ships holds up in the real world.
  • Work across the room. Partner daily with EE, Industrial Design, Product Development, NPD, and test teams — this is a collaborative build, not a handoff chain.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • ~2-4 years in product development or design (if you're close to this range and can show the work, we want to hear from you)
  • Real hands-on prototyping experience — you've built and tested physical hardware, not just modeled it
  • Experience designing for injection molded plastics or sheet metal for a mass produced product.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or similar)
  • Comfort with fast-moving, iterative work where requirements evolve
