Job Title: CNC Operator Department: Machining Reports To: Production Supervisor Job Type: Full-time Location: Rockwood, TN Job Summary: We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled CNC Operator with automation experience to support our high-volume manufacturing operations. This role is critical to ensuring efficient, accurate, and consistent production of components using CNC machinery integrated with automated systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of machining processes, robotics, and industrial automation. Key Responsibilities: Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machines (e.g., milling, turning, grinding) used in mass production of metal components integrated with automated systems. Translate blueprints and mechanical drawings into machine instructions using CAD/CAM software. Load raw materials and tools, calibrate equipment, and perform test runs to ensure accuracy. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with CNC programs, machine performance, and automation sequences. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to optimize production processes. Maintain detailed logs of machine settings, production output, and quality control results. Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with company standards. Set up machines for production runs, including tooling, fixturing, and calibration of automated systems. Interpret manufacturing blueprints, process sheets, and work instructions to ensure product specifications are met. Program and adjust CNC equipment using G-code and CAM software to optimize cycle times and reduce waste. Integrate and troubleshoot automation systems such as robotic arms, conveyors, and PLC-controlled devices. Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, CMMs) to maintain quality standards. Conduct routine maintenance and report equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime. Collaborate with production supervisors, engineers, and quality control teams to improve workflow and efficiency. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in CNC machining, automation, or related field preferred. 3+ years of experience operating CNC machinery, with at least 1 year in an automated manufacturing environment. Proficiency in G-code programming and CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks CAM) Familiarity with PLCs, robotic arms, and automated material handling systems. Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and tooling. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics. Good communication skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
