ASA's Mission is to maintain and enhance the quality, diversity, cost, and value of food in the campus dining programs, improving fiscally prudent and affordable food plans for students While ensuring the availability of desired and appropriate merchandise, products, and services for the campus community; Fostering and supporting the campus' core mission of academics, research, scholarship and intellectual creativity, inclusivity, and sustainability The Accounting Manager for Student Organizations plays a key role in supporting the Undergraduate Student Government and Graduate Student Organization by ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This position is responsible for balance sheet reconciliations and overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. This role leads financial reporting, budgeting, and trend analysis processes while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger. In addition, the Staff Accountant performs general bookkeeping and administrative duties as needed. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience • Working knowledge of financial statements and accounting principles • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy • Experience with ERP accounting software • Experience managing a month end close process • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in a higher education environment • MBA in Business, Finance or Accounting, or CPA • Experience with budgeting and financial statement analysis Supervisory Responsibilities: • Manage 1102 bookkeeping employees • Train and onboard staff and system users on financial processes and tools, including student staff • Review work, provide coaching, and support consistent service delivery in a high volume environment. Duties/Responsibilities: • Lead the month-end close process for both student organizations • Prepare and distribute accurate and timely monthly financial reports • Assist in designing, monitoring, and evaluating internal controls • Support the development and streamlining of accounting processes • Prepare financial projections, trend analyses, and reports for executive councils • Ensure compliance with SUNY guidelines and organizational bylaws for all purchases • Manage and reconcile organizational credit card • Manage accounting software, including maintaining the general ledger, vendors, and project codes • Develop custom financial reports for individual clubs and organizations-wide use • Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations • Support budget development and annual planning processes • Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable functions • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts • Serve as liaison with external auditors for year-end audits and IRS Form 990 filings • Perform other accounting, bookkeeping and administrative duties as assigned ASA is an employer and educator recognized for valuing AA/EEO and Protected Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities.
