About the role

ABSTRACT OF THE POSITION: The Assistant Pre-K Teacher supports the Lead Pre-K Teacher in planning and conducting developmentally appropriate activities for up to 15 children aged 3-5, including those with special needs. They help create a safe and appropriate environment for children to develop personal relationships, social and self-help skills, and problem-solving abilities. The role also involves maintaining a clean and orderly physical environment, supervising classroom activities, and participating in parent education and involvement. The Assistant Pre-K Teacher may be assigned to various classrooms/centers and tasks as needed to meet program goals and ensure regulatory compliance. This position is dependent on Nevada Pre-K, annual grant renewal. Employees working within the scope of this grant understand if the grant is not renewed, they will still be employed by Sunrise Children’s Foundation, however, their position and salary will be subject to change. RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES (including but not limited to): Supports the Lead Pre-K teacher in the following areas: Ensures compliance with all licensing regulations, additional state requirements, and SCF’s policies and procedures. Actively participates in required meetings, training, and activities. Develops and maintains individualized curriculum with the education team and parents. Conducts screenings and assessments and develops plans for each child. Maintains a healthy, safe, and culturally sensitive learning environment. Maintains accurate records and completes required tasks by deadlines. Builds positive relationships with families and promotes parent involvement. Participates in transition activities. Collaborates with program staff and partners to support the program's mission and goals. PHYSICAL DEMAINS & WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical demands: Lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, crouching, sitting on the floor, and using hands and fingers to manipulate equipment. Visual and auditory abilities: Able to see and hear to read materials, conduct conversations, and share developmental reports with families. Working environment: Includes childcare center, office, and client homes, with some exposure to bodily fluids and communicable diseases and moderate to loud noise levels. Compliance: Upholds and adheres to SCF's Safety Program responsibilities, including attending training, reporting hazards, and cleaning up spills or other safety concerns.
