Substitute Teacher JOB TITLE: SUBSTITUTE/ LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE TEACHER REPORTS TO: SITE DIRECTOR STATUS: SEASONAL POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree in child development, early childhood education or a related field with at least 7 – 12 credits in Child Development/Early Childhood Education. New Jersey P – 3 Teacher Certification Experience working with low-income/urban population. Two years of experience as a full-time preschool teacher preferred. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES: Planning and Preparation Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy. Demonstrates knowledge of students. Sets instructional outcomes. Demonstrates knowledge of resources. Designs coherent instructions. Designs student assessment. Class Environment Creates and environment of respect and rapport. Establishes a culture for learning. Manages classroom procedures. Manages student behavior. Organizes physical space. Instruction Communicates with students. Uses questioning and discussion techniques. Engages students in learning. Uses assessment in instruction. Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness. Appropriate level of technology integration. Appropriate variety of technology Professional Responsibilities Reflects on teaching. Maintains accurate records. Communicates with families. Participates in a professional community. Grows and develops professionally. Shows professionalism. GENERAL: Follow NJ state requirement as per NJ Department of Children and Families, Office of Licensing, Chapter 122 Manual of Requirement for Child Care Centers. Follow Center policy for the discipline and care of students in accordance with the DCF, Office of Licensing and PRAB manual & procedures. Insure compliance with PRAB rules, regulations and procedures accordance with PRAB Employee Handbook. Understand and follow center’s Crisis Management Plan and Procedures. Complete daily Meal Count and Attendance Record for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Maintain record of student’s allergy information and ensure center’s compliance in meal service.
