About the role

The director of pastoral ministries (DPM) is a key member of the Parish Family Staff Leadership Team and reports directly to the pastor. Under the leadership of the pastor, the director of pastoral ministries shepherds the overall vision for all pastoral ministries. The director of pastoral ministries leads the Family Pastoral Team, which is responsible for creating, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive strategy for liturgy, faith formation, OCIA, outreach, social justice and evangelization. This comprehensive plan of evangelization and discipleship is oriented towards four key areas: Schools, Youth, Parishioner Leadership Development, Small Groups / Community Development. The director may have responsibility for one or more specific ministries. ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES The Director of Pastoral Ministries collaborates with the pastor in strategy & leadership for the parish family in relation to the operations of pastoral care. Assists the pastor in the daily operation of the parish family ministries. This involves collaboration with the pastor and parish staff in the overall pastoral care of the parish family. Coordinates with Pastoral Leadership Council, Parish Leadership Team (staff) and Pastor for short, medium, and longer-term goals and strategies. Assists the pastor in creating and executing the vision for liturgy, faith formation, OCIA, outreach, social justice and evangelization in the parish family. Collaborates with the pastor and parish staff in implementing the mission of the parish. This is accomplished by participating in the comprehensive planning, implementation and evaluation of the parish's programs, goals and objectives, with specific focus on pastoral ministry. Organize and Consolidate all Sacramental, Discipleship, and Evangelization programs across the parish family. Responsible for the liturgical calendar and all liturgical celebrations. Director of Parish Ministry – Parish Family 14 (cont’d) ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES (cont’d) In collaboration with the Pastor, the Director of Pastoral Ministries will create, implement, and evaluate comprehensive approaches to evangelization for youth, adults and families. This involves the following: Continuous formation timeline development. School Evangelization coordination with principals. Parishioner Recruitment, Management and Leadership development. Develops missionary disciples who will reach out and bring the presence of Jesus Christ to those in need, including outreach to the marginalized, parishioners, inactive Catholics and those who do not know Jesus Christ. Ensures outreach to those who are underserved. Serves as the Faith Formation Commission Director. The Director of Pastoral Ministries is responsible for leading parishioner leadership bodies related to faith formation and evangelization. Works to build a good relationship between the parish staff, the parish communities and the school communities. Leads or attends planning meetings related to adult faith formation, and marriage preparation. Leads or attends planning meetings related to stewardship objectives, strategies and goals. Including regular one-on-one supervisory meetings with members and regular team meetings. This will include 4-6 employees. Oversee and direct all initiatives and respective programs from Faith Formation Staff. Integrate all programing into the whole of parish/school calendars Integrate all programing into communications with help from Communications director Creates a healthy team culture of prayer and ongoing formation and supports the pastor in doing so for the Parish Family Leadership Team. Manage and hire team members in collaboration with the pastor. Sets and manages Faith Formation budget yearly. Ensures the budget is aligned to the pastoral priorities of the parish family, in partnership with the pastor and director of operations. Attends and participates in regional, archdiocesan and national professional meetings and organizations as approved and as appropriate.
