About the role
Salary: This professional position follows the Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule, starting at Bachelor's, Step 1 - $58,554 for the 26/27 SY Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 190 days/year Job Goal: To remediate and guide English Learners (ELs) in a professional manner while collaborating with stakeholders in order to help facilitate student success. To support students who are experiencing academic challenges in reading and/or math by promoting success through the use of evidence-based strategies, targeted interventions, and collaborative partnerships among staff and families. Performance Responsibilities: 1. Promote communication among students, parents, teacher, administrators, and other educational specialists when appropriate. 2. Develop a remedial program designed to fit the needs of students. 3. Establish clear procedures for student referrals and ensure appropriateness based on state and federal guidelines. 4. Demonstrate proficiency in the MTSS process by analyzing data, adjusting instruction, monitoring progress, and making informed decisions about how to best support each student. 5. Implement targeted, evidence-based interventions in reading and/or math to promote academic success. 6. Collaborate with staff and families to identify student needs and coordinate appropriate supports. 7. Serve as an active member of the school's student support team when appropriate to meet student needs. 8. Establish a schedule to deliver programs and services to students and adjust as necessary. 9. Deliver academic support services through individualized or small-group remedial instruction designed to address learning needs. 10. Act as a liaison between the student and other teachers, staff members and family 11. Recommend entry and exit of students into the ELD program based on multiple criteria 12. Notify parents within the state-mandated time period concerning assessment results and progress toward goals 13. Maintain and communicate accurate and up-to-date data on students to appropriate stakeholders 14. Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons for students based on available research of best practices in the field 15. Conduct effective assessments to identify levels of language proficiency, acquisition, and content learning 16. Select and/or modify appropriate learning materials from appropriate sources and share with regular classroom teachers 17. Maintain ongoing communication with families of ELs 18. Monitor academic achievement of reclassified former English Learners 19. Participate in individualized education plan (IEP) preparation for English Learners receiving special education assistance/services 20. Provide school staff with resources/professional activities to promote understanding and sensitivity toward all cultures 21. Prepare and maintain current schedules, lesson plans, and other appropriate information/material that are available for supervisory submission, review, and approval 22. Complete and maintain all record keeping as required by the program, Federal and State regulations, and the CAIU 23. Perform duties that are building related, including, but not limited to, lunch and recess supervision, bus loading and unloading, and planning and implementation of special programs 24. Prepare and maintain detailed substitute information, including current lesson plans, that is easily accessible 25. Know and comply with the host facility's protocols/rules for staff and students. 26. Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor or his/her designee. 27.
